Purdue University Race Weekend - Lafayette, IN (April 2nd & 3rd)

Sakonnet's Jonathan Swain took a fantastic 1st Place at the Purdue Road Race contested over 70 miles of hilly terrain with 45mph winds. Swain and his break away partner from host school Purdue left the field with 20mi to go in the event. In the two-up sprint it was Swain's powerful sprint honed by his strong track experience that took the blue ribbon. In the next days Criterium Jonathan continued his buttery ways and rolled to a super 4th Place finish on a testing circuit that destroyed the field.

Bean Pot Criterium - Boston, MA (April 10th)

Sakonnet's youngest rider and New England Junior racer of the year in 2004, 18-year-old Alex Ferrero sprinted his way to 8th Place at last Sunday's Bean Pot Criterium in the Boston suburbs. All the strong New England regional teams fiercely contested the event and the victory went to old warhorse Adam Hodge Meyerson who is racing professionally again this year on the new NERAC.com outfit.

ECCC Round 6 Bean Pot Road Race - Boston, MA (April 9th)

Sakonnet's Michael Chauner (Bucknell University) and Peter Horn (Vassar University) both cracked the top 10 at last Saturdays ECCC Road Race. The event was 72miles long on a tough rolling course. Peter competed for the first time ever in a collegiate race finished in 10th place and Michael who is having a strong debut in the collegiate ranks finished in 7th Place.

CRCA Club Race - New York, NY (April 9th)

After last weekends event contested in the pouring rain it was nice to see a clear, warm sunny day greeting the competitors at start of this mornings event. Racing for Sakonnet in the "A" field was Bob/Bruce Weyman and Basil Moutsopoulos, in the "B" field the Team had Louis Perez. Weyman continued his strong start of the season consistently punching the field to pieces at every opportunity. His last effort was brought back with just a 1mi to go when it looked like Weyman could possibly make his move stick. After being absorbed it was up to Moutsopoulos to fly the colors in the ensuing field sprint. Keeping his line straight and head up the Teams Director Sportif crossed the in a fine 3rd Place.

Bethel CDP Gold Race - Bethel, CT (April 3rd)

Sakonnet strong men Stephan Badger and Robbie Giannini suited up for the third round of the ever-popular Bethel Racing Series. This morning's event featured an 8-man breakaway that included Badger. After several laps of hard effort the break managed to lap the field and in the confusion 4 men slipped away. Badger missed the move but put matters to right by winning the sprint out his group for 5th Place.

School of the Mines Hill Climb - Colorado Springs, CO (April 2nd)

Sakonnet's Chris Kuhl took his time trailing skills up hill for a hard earned 5th Place at today's School of the Mines Hill Climb. Chris can put the power down with his long legs in any TT effort he is challenged with and this event was no different. With the future Miners of America Local 104 watching Chris showed them a thing or two about hauling a 6-foot frame up a mountainside.
