3/12/06 Central Valley Classic (Pro 1) - Fresno, CA

The team's second NRC event of the season was fought in last weekends
Central Valley Classic in Fresno, CA. This event began with an individual time
trial that should have suited our team in that it was to be a 6-mile uphill test.
However due to unexpected snow in the mountains in and around Fresno the
T.T was changed to a 17 mi flat course. Our boys who did not bring aero
equipment where caught out along with many other amateur teams who
don't travel with team equipment trucks and were forced to race Eddy Merckx
style. Chris Kuhl was our top finisher in 48th Place but was in 6th among
riders who did not use aerobars.

Saturday's Road Race and Sunday's Criterium both ended in field sprints
and our entire team finished in the first group on both days. Johnny was
our top finisher in the Road Race in 39th Place and Andy was our top
finisher in the Criterium in 44th. Coming up at Redlands in two weeks
time are some mountains that our team will enjoy after two weekends
of flat windy courses.

Special thanks go out our host-housing mom Julie Prandini for taking
such good care of our boys while in Fresno.

 

3/12/06 NYC Metro Racing Report (NY, NJ, CT)

Sakonnet riders Robbie Giannini and Stephan Badger continued their fine
run of top finishes at last weekends Bethel Series in Connecticut. Badger
sprinted to 3rd Place and Giannini finished in 4th Place. Both riders now
sit high in the overall in the six weekend Bethel series.

3/15/06 Full Team at Grants Tomb Criterium - New York, NY

WA full Sakonnet squad mixed between U25 and regional riders will be racing
at this Saturday's Grant Tomb Criterium in Manhattan NY. If you are in the area
come by and watch. The Pro 1,2 event begins at 9:50a.m.
