Weyman Wins Southern California 35+ State Cross Title New York, NY (10 December 2006)

Sakonnet’s west coast road manager, Bob “the Bruce” Weyman, took the biggest win in his racing career today by capturing the southern California/Nevada 35+ Cyclo-Cross State title. After a stellar cross season with a victory and multiple podium placings it was Weyman’s last big event before Cross Nationals in Providence, RI.

After a typical violent cross start Weyman held position in the top six. With three laps to go, a small crash had him chasing back to the leaders with fire in his eyes. Upon regaining his composure with one lap to go, Bob “the Bruce” loaded up, drifted back behind the leading group and unleashed a road-style attack. Weyman quickly got the gap, stunned the competition and rode to victory!

Sakonnet Announces Team Training Camp in Gainesville, FL New York, NY (26 December 2007)

The 2007 CRCA/Sakonnet Technology U25 cycling team will hold its first training camp of the season in Gainesville, FL from January 2nd thru January 7th, 2007.

Gainesville, home to the University of Florida, was the premier place to go for early season training camps in the late 80’s and early 90’s. With great roads and sunny weather, professional teams like Coors Light and Saturn have held camps there. On multiple occasions the Gainesville area has been the home of Junior Road Nationals and also a Korbel Cup event in Ocala. The Korbel Cup was the predecessor to what is now known as the NRC series.

The Paramount Plaza Hotel & Suites is hosting the team to meet with sponsors, determine season programs, sort out equipment, take photos and create promotional materials.
