Michael began riding mountain bike races at age 12. In 2000 his family moved from Wilton, Connecticut to a rural area outside Philadelphia where he took to riding and racing on the road. He steadily improved through the junior ranks, collected state and national championship medals and developed a strong interest in endurance track events. In 2004, his last year as a junior, he was selected to compete with the Junior National Team in France and Holland and later in the season helped his PA Team decisively win the National Team Pursuit Championship to gain selection for the Junior World Championships in Los Angeles. During Michael’s freshman year at Bucknell University in 2005, he won the Regional Championships as well as gaining a top 5 placing at the Collegiate National Championships. During the summer of 2005 he raced in Europe for 6 weeks at the Cycling Center. Michael is now a sophomore in college and looks forward to another strong intercollegiate spring as well as a full schedule of U23 racing with Sakonnet Technology.
